The video I found from website called Vimeo Staff Picks.
It is a powerful video that talked about a member of Might Mongrel Mob which is the biggest gang in New Zealand.

The video is talking about a man's life track. The first part is about who he was and how he related to Mongrel Mob. The rest of this video is talking about what changes him also describe his current life.

The whole video uses slow motion that tells audiences it is a soft memory video and they also can pay attention to the dialogue.

I like how he uses documentary interview style to describe a gang member's life. There are some sense I like the most.



The first sense of him that introduce him to audiences. It is clever using a
mirror let this man face himself. And the over-shoulder shoot also hidden the camera makes audiences focuses the man in the mirror.

The patch shows on the video when he started talking about what the patch means. The long shoot also tell audience that how important the patch means to him.

This sense is talking about how was his childhood that he was pretty bad before he joined gang. This newspaper shows on video when he talks about a case he made. It also matches between video and audio.

 This is the middle part of this video. This sense is about how he started changing. The shoot from low level is good to represent people starting changing and audiences can focus the facial emotion. Also the music starting changing from this sense.

 This is my favourite sense in this video. It is perfect of matching between music and video. Battle music starting with the video of a warrior sitting on the beach. Also the wild shoot makes music more powerful.

His daughter finally understand how many his father did for their family in the last sense. It is a happy ending of this powerful video.

Workshop: Moving image Volume Editing

This is the video we editing in the class which is talking about why she want to be a nurse.

The main task today is about play with volume. For example we higher the background music before the actual interview. lowering music during interview then. At last we higher volume while the lady does not talking. Like Glen said it likes After effect because we need to editing like frame by frame.

The fun part for this video is we have a lot of clips to editing like I put a nurse sense after she tell us that she has family members working in hospital. And I also showing some working sense when she is telling us the passion of being a nurse.

That sense is cut from one of the directors I like named Steven Spielberg. The story is talking about what happened in D-day of Omaha beach. The whole sense is about how American soldiers attack German's by landing operation. 

The reason why this sense becomes the classic sense in war movie history is Steven Spielberg uses a new camera technique which is he shoot the whole battlefield like a documentary. The camera man looks like one of a soldier in battlefield. Also the camera is shanking with movement of soldier makes the sense more reality. That makes audiences feel like they are in the battle with these soldiers as well when they watching this film.

There are many head shoots in the beginning of this sense. He wants to show us how fear these soldiers are. There are some small movements of these soldiers to represent nerves and fear by touching their cross and eating chocolate. 

It is the best way to showing people with first person shooting which though battlefield with soldiers' eyes. That is much better than just setting a stable camera shoot battle.

Workshop: Moving image Interview Video

This video i made with Jackson which is a long story. I remember we make it like three times actually. The first times we forgot to turn the camera on and we forgot to turn the recorder on which likes a disaster for us.

These two interview are talking about how was our weekend. I adjusted right way for Jackson but he  was keeping moving forward. So it becomes like a head-shooting video. But it does not matter because the main job is adjust the voice to videos. Actually I did ok for that because you still can hear some noise from outside for example the noise of door was closed.

It is just too hurry for the formative tomorrow and we will fix those problems next time.

Workshop: Moving image Memory Video (2)

This is the memory video I made on the weekend. The weather is pretty bad actually that is why I need to shoot different sense on different time.

The story is about a boy just broke up with his girlfriend that he cannot forget about it. He started to forget her because the whole place is full of memory of them. The only thing he can do is clean it up. At last he forgets her with  long shoot slow motion with smoking.

I used a lot of different camera angles because i want to present actor in the different way. Also the weather is another important part in this video. It is like a emotion changing of character from cloudy to sun comes out. In another point black and grey parts is showing his depressing. The colour parts is showing he release his heart to free.

The problems of this video are the weather. I need to adjust camera all the time and it is very hard for just me shooting and acting alone. I think I will let somebody help me next time to fix these problems.

This is the other video from one of my favourite film named Inglorious Basterds which is the best film made by Quentin Tarantino in 2009. This video is the first sense of Brad Pitt in this film. And this sense is talking about Lieutenant Aldo Raine offer his Jewish-American soldiers to killing Nazis.

There is not many body acting in this sense. The way to show audiences about acting is their facial emotion and different camera angles. It is better to show what actor thinks.




For example there is an shoot to the soldier near by him when Lieutenant Aldo was talking about how Germans will fear us. That shoot shows the soldier is thinking that is what we want from his special smile. Also let audiences know that he is not the normal solider. That is the way that director always uses in the films.

Those over shoulder shoots are telling people Aldo is the leader of this special force. And also showing people some black human between dialogue and his facial emotion. It is the best way to present with people as background. Because that makes you pay attention to the actor their camera focused on.

This is the trailer of movie Reservoir dogs by my favourite director Quentin Tarantino which is the first movie of him.

In this trailer we can tell that it is a low budget B movie and full of violence. We can get many information from the trailer although it is only takes one and half mins long. It says ' 6 strangers teaming up ' which is really important for audiences to know that only Mr.White, Mr.Pink,Mr.Blond and Tim Roth are four main characters. All the main stories are happened in a warehouse with different camera angles.

The camera technique this trailer used contains head shoot for every characters. And also an over head shoot when Mr.White conversation with Mr.Orange. We can see the diamond store which is the place they are trying to robed. Also the dialogue is not goes with the video. For example Mr.White describe Mr.Blond shooting in the diamond store as "Ban,Ban,Ban,Ban,Ban". Actually they give a sense to Mr.Pink instead of Mr.Blond. That will makes audiences think how creasy Mr.Blond is when he was in the diamond store. Because we can see that Mr.Pink is crazy enough when he shoot the police. Mr. Blond should be even worse than Mr.Pink. That is a tricky sense in this Trailer.

Reservoir Dogs is my one of the favourite movies from Quentin Tarantino. I have been study his film for a long time. Also I will use his techniques onto my own film.    

Workshop: Moving image Memory Video (1)

                            

This is the memory video I made. The story is about a boy is graduated and leave school tomorrow. But he wants to shoot something as a memory of his uni life.

It is absolutely a sad story and that is the reason i chose the song of Johnny Cash which name is Hurt. The lyrics and music fit the video very much.

I used some editing techniques on this video For example I use slow motion and spend up all the black and white parts because it is the memory parts for school which is already the past. But he cannot forget the people he use to study and teaching with that is the reason why I use colour and slow motion on the people.

The disadvantage of this is video is I did not suing many shooting technique and not many people on my video. I suppose to make like many people walking around and I will speed up to make like flash back memory parts. But actually I cannot find enough people in the school because it is 10 o'clock in the morning.

I will use more video effects next time. That will make my video more creative and custom.
