Eastern Mona Lisa, Leng Jun, 2004
That is a realistic drawing from a Chinese artist Leng Jun. He is aim at realism drawing and painting.
The idea of this drawing comes from the famous painting Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci. He made this drawing because he want to compare and discuss the smile between Western and Asian lady. And he did it very well.
Actually he capture all the details from the original painting. You can tell the lady is smiling from different angle. Also you can see the texture of the clothes from the original drawing. That is what realism art is from this drawing. He said 'detail makes realism' in an interview of him. This drawing is very successful because his attention is on the facial emotion instead of making the drawn too busy.
In this drawing I can see how it relates to original Mona Lisa and how he describe realistic art. And that really inspired me for coin realistic tattoo.
